Drying plays a decisive role in any coating process with dissolved solids. Not only because it represents the most energy-intensive section in the plant, but also because it has a decisive influence on the final coating quality.
As part of a doctorate, industrial aspects of drying will therefore be examined in more detail from this year, in addition to other topics. The aim is to provide practice-relevant results that will enable industry to design its processes to be energy-optimised and quality-efficient.
This presentation is intended to provide a brief scientific introduction to drying. It will be shown that drying processes are much more complex than one would initially imagine. Drying therefore rightly continues to be an area with many scientific questions. The core topics, which are to be dealt with in this thesis, are listed and explained.
